For this project, I wanted to challenge my technical modeling skills more than I have ever before by creating a typewriter piece based off of a Sperry Remington 1970s IDOOL typewriter.

I made it a point to create as many individual small parts that I could based off of my reference photos.
The reference photos I chose for this project were auction photos as well as disassembled typewriter photos, so I could get a better reference of each individual part.
I first made a mid-poly in Maya of all the parts using subdividing, booleans, and Boolean operations.

After the mid poly was complete, I brought it into ZBrush and used Zremeshing and Dynamesh, as well as used brush tools to create fine details by hand. Before bringing it back into Maya to create and retopologize for the low poly, I made sure to decimate the high poly.
I then exported into Substance Painter and created the textures with folders and black masks. My favorite details I created in Photoshop and imported into SP, which was the sticker on the front of the model. I also am very proud of the finger smudges and prints on the model. After texturing, I brought it into Unreal and set up the scene for beauty shots.
